From Figure B, when the starter switch is on, current will flow into the loop and causing the electromagnetic case, causing the plunger drawn into. This will cause the drive pinion lever refused to merge with the flywheel ring gear and cause the contacts together to allow more current to flow from the battery to the starter motor, for the purpose of turning the engine. When the engine has been living off the starter switch is no current in the coil. Electromagnetic plunger does not happen then pushed out and the contacts are open, causing the starter motor does not work.
In the past the speed clutch drive method, this method is called the pinion clutch pinion speed past, please refer to the explanation of Figure c below.
